Art Center Sarasota Announces Completion of Atrium Galleries Renovation And Lighting Project
Art Center Sarasota is pleased to announce the completion of renovations to the Atrium Galleries at the center.
The Art Center received a generous donation of $25,000 from Howard and Betty Isermann to install new, improved lighting in the galleries. The objective of the lighting project was to ensure that the artworks on display were presented in the best possible manner, students had sufficient lighting to create artwork and events and programs were able to adjust lighting to specific needs. Energy efficient bulbs and fixtures were used wherever possible to lower electricity costs.
In addition to new lighting in the Atrium Galleries, Art Center supporters Elaine and David Charney donated funds to renovate all of the walls of the galleries with neutral carpeting that complements artwork and hides damage to the walls from constant rehanging of exhibitions.
Bubsy Becker, one of the centers long- time supporters donated additional LED bulbs and extenders as well as new insulation in the attic above the Main Gallery to further cut down on energy costs.
Ted Hadjian, another Art Center supporter, volunteered to serve as project manager to ensure improvements would meet the needs of the center. With Mr. Hadjian taking the lead, the efforts resulted in a complete transformation of the Atrium Galleries. Art Center Sarasota COO Sarah Ford says, “Visitors to the galleries are astounded by the tremendously effective improvements. The Center’s artists are thrilled to display their artwork in such favorable conditions and the instructors and students are anxiously awaiting their first classes and workshops in the Atrium.”
