5 Things: Free Fair Admission From 2 to 4 pm

Sarasota County Fair offers free gate admission from 2 to 4 p.m. through Thursday.

1. The Sarasota County Fair continues today from 2 to 10 p.m. Free gate admission from 2 to 4 p.m. Special events today incude a dress-up parade at 5 p.m.; 4-H & FFA Miniature Horse Show at 5:30 p.m.; and the  fourth and fifth grade chorus takes the main stage at 6 p.m.

All the action happens at the  and Robarts Arena. The annual Sarasota County Fair runs through Sunday. Otherwise it's $8 for adults, $4 for seniors 55 and up, children 6-17 and active military. Children 5 and under are free. Check out all of the events at https://sarasotafair.com.

2. Olivia Newton-John will be at the helm of a microphone in Sarasota today, but instead of singing, this time she'll address breast and gynecologic cancer awareness.

 Moffitt Cancer Center Foundation will host the 13th Annual Sarasota Women’s Cancer Awareness Luncheon at noon at .  Singer-songwriter and breast cancer survivor Olivia Newton-John will be the keynote speaker for the event benefiting breast and gynecologic cancer research.  Newton-John, a member of Moffitt’s national Board of Advisors, advocates for early detection and encourages women to take an active role in their breast health. Tickets are $125 each; sponsorships start at $1,000. Call Sue Bliss at (813) 745-4860 to purchase tickets or receive sponsorship information, or visit www.insidemoffitt.com/sarasota-luncheon.htmStay with Patch Tuesday to hear more from Olivia Newton-John.

3. Life's a beach and the O's and Sarasota County are out to celebrate Siesta Key Beach. Sarasota County and the Baltimore Orioles will celebrate Siesta Beach Day at on Friday when the Orioles take on the Boston Red Sox.

In recognition of Siesta Beach being designated the No. 1 beach in the USA, Parks and Recreation staff will be at the ballpark handing out limited edition sunglasses, T-shirts and beach towels.

5. Get your tickets now for the 17th annual Give Hunger The Blues festival. It happens Sunday at 1930 Hillview St. in Southside Village. It's the All Faiths Food Bank's biggest single day fundraiser. This year's headliner is The Lee Boys, who hail from Miami. You can watch them in the YouTube clip above from their 2009 appearance on Late Nite with Conan O'Brien.
