Adoptable Dog of the Week: Tara

Each week Patch and the Humane Society of Sarasota County will bring you an adoptable dog and cat of the week.

Sarasota Patch and the Humane Society of Sarasota County know there are dog and cat lovers out there, so to help out both, we're bringing you an adoptable dog and cat of each week.

Saturday, we shown you Missy — an adoptable cat who needs a home.

Today, it's a pooch's turn. Tara, an Australian Cattle Dog mix is this week's adoptable dog.

She's two years old and weighs less than 50 pounds. She came from Sarasota County Animal Services because Animal Services is facing an overcrowding situation.

Tara can be outgoing and affectionate, but also rather strong.

It's best to have Tara in a household with no children.

She knows commands like “sit”, and will be willing to learn more with love and patience.

About this column: Every Saturday, Sarasota Patch will let you know about a cat available for adoption from the Humane Society of Sarasota County. Every Sunday, we will feature an adoptable dog of the week. Related Topics: Adoptable, Adoptable Pet of the Week, and Humane Society

Although I love the adoptable pet of the week, why are you only featuring one rescue. There are a dozen in Sarasota and those animals would also like a little exposure.

Rescue organizations are free to help publicize their causes using a couple of tools Patch offers. The best one would have to be starting a blog, which is free, and the rescue controls the content. You can post as many entries as you like and do videos and photos — the works — and you know that having a blog hosted on Patch will have a local audience. If anyone needs assistance with setting up a blog, feel free to contact me.

You can also post Announcements which will post immediately and reach more than 2,000 users directly who subscribed to the Newsletter.

HSSC is also an open admission shelter and often accepts animals from other shelters that have overcrowding or other issues.
