Patch Picks: Best Places to Watch the Super Bowl in Sarasota

The best places in Sarasota to watch the big game on Sunday.

 

The most watched TV event of the year is this Sunday. In case you haven't heard, the Pittsburgh Steelers are playing the Green Bay Packers in the Super Bowl at 6:29pm on FOX. 

Whether you are interested in the game, watching the commercials or jamming out the the Black Eyed Peas halftime show, there are plenty of great places to watch the Super Bowl in Sarasota. 

Downtown

  • Sports Page Bar and Grille, 1319 Main Street: Munch on some great bar food and watch the game on on the bar's many big screen TVs. No matter where you are seated you'll have a great view of the game.
  • Applebees, 1991 Main St: The chain bar and grill, located next to Hollywood Theater, offers plenty of seating at the bar and audio boxes are placed at each table. 
  • Smokin' Joes, 1448 Main Street: Sit back, relax, watch the game, have a drink and smoke a cigar at Smokin' Joes. If the weather cooperates, you can even cheer on your favorite team from your outdoor seat. 
  • Evies Tavern, 1989 Ringling Boulevard: You know this might be the place to watch the game when a flat screen TV is in the floor as you enter the bar. Evies also has private party lofts to rent. 

East Sarasota

  • The Loft Ristobar Restaurant, 5911 Fruitville Rd: They are having a special for the Super Bowl, $50 will get you all the food you can eat and all the beer from the bar that you can drink
  • Lee Roy Selmon's, 8253 Cooper Creek Blvd: From 5:30pm until the conclusion of Super Bowl XLV, a $63 Pass includes reserved seating, select draft beers, house wines and call-brand cocktails. 

South Sarasota/Siesta Key

  • Daiquiri Deck, 5250 Ocean Boulevard: View the big game on any of the Deck's 25 TV’s or enormous 16ft projector located on outdoor patio. Food specials on Gator Bites, Nachos and Wings. 
  • Gilligan's Island Grille, 5253 Ocean Boulevard: Enjoy some live music, the sun and the game at Gilligan's. Shoes are optional, sand is OK, so feel free to head over after leaving the beach. 
  • Legacy Grill Sarasota, 6606 Tamiami Trl: Formerly Big Als, the Legacy Grill is a great bar and grill to catch the big game. They are offering a four-course meal and open bar for $50 per person.

Shaners is also running a super bowl event. It is in the shopping center at the southwest corner of Beneva and Clark Roads.
