Bicyclist Killed By Oncoming Car

A 60-year-old Sarasota man was trying to cross South Tamiami Trail on his bike when he was struck by an oncoming car.

A 60-year-old bicyclist died after riding his bike into the path of an oncoming car Wednesday night, according to Sarasota Police.

responded to the scene Wednesday at 10:30 p.m. at South Tamiami Trail and Hillview Street where Bruce Alan Mason was struck by an oncoming car. Police said Mason was at fault.

Mason was transported to where he died from his injuries.

The crash is being investigated by the Sarasota Police Traffic Unit.
