Burglary Suspect Shot By Grandmother Faces More Charges

Michael Sterlace is facing charges in at least five other burglaries, according to the Sarasota County Sheriff's Office, and detectives are trying to reunite victims with their possessions.

The standing her ground last week is facing charges today for five more burglaries in the area.

Michael Sterlace, 26, of 4160 Fruitville Road, Apt. 5 Sarasota, arrested and charged Monday for the July 7 burglary on Stone Ridge Trail where the homeowner fired two shots at the suspect before he fled.

More than 100 items that were confiscated from Sterlace's apartment were put on display Friday for other burglary victims to identify, according to the sheriff's office.

About half of the items recovered were reunited with their owners. Detectives are asking for the public’s help in locating other owners of the confiscated items.
