Poll: When Should Downtown Stores Close?

Shops tend to close earlier than restaurants downtown, and some critics say the stores need to be open later to gain business. What's your take?

In the midst of this week's , a few residents and business owners commented that one of the actual reasons businesses aren't making money, or losing money, is their hours.

Traditionally some stores close at 5 p.m., and some have bumped that to 6 p.m., and unless it's for a special event, even at that, you won't see many lights on along Main Street unless you're looking for a drink or a bite to eat.

So what do you think? When do you like to go shopping, and when should downtown businesses close? Let us know in the comments and vote in our Patch Poll.
