Sarasota Man Charged For Pinecraft Homicide

Steven Palasz was fatally stabbed on March 20 outside of his File Avenue home.

A man with an extensive arrest history for violence is now facing a murder charge for the fatal stabbing of 44-year-old Steven Palasz.

Palasz was stabbed in the chest on March 20 in Pinecraft, after a fight inside his File Avenue home with Dushun Robinson, 40, of 1667 24th St., according to the Sarasota County Sheriff's Office.

Robinson is charged with one count of second-degree murder and is being held without bond, according to the sheriff's office.

The Fugitive Apprehension Unit, working with the U.S. Marshal Florida Regional Fugitive Task Force, found Robinson Thursday morning.

When sheriff's office staff arrived at the scene on March 20, they heard an argument before finding the victim's body, and a forensic technician said she heard a woman saying "chill out" during the argument, according to the affidavit. The sheriff's office were already in the area for an unrelated death investigation, according to the affidavit.

Following a search of phone records, the woman involved in the argument sent the victim a text message saying "I'm asleep and bg is here so please just chill," according to the affidavit. BG refers to Robinson, according to the affidavit.

A fight then ensued between Robinson and the victim and the witness told the two to "chill out" and the fight proceeded outside, according to the affidavit.

Robinson then returned to the home, asking the witness to call a neighbor to take them home, and Robinson and threatened to kill a woman and her family if she told anyone what happened, according to the affidavit. The neighbor told detectives she wasn't aware at the time that the victim had died and that Robinson told the neighbor, "I have to take care of business and I cannot let people walk on me."

The murder arrest marks Robinson's 30th arrest on charges that include cocaine possession, aggravated stalking, battery and robbery, according to the sheriff's office. In addition, he has violated probation several times and held in contempt of court.

Out of his 39 felony charges and 27 misdemeanors, Robinson was sentenced to prison one, serving four years and eight months, according to the sheriff's office.
