Sarasota Trader Joe's Announces Opening Date

Sarasota's Trader Joe's will open in early September and will accept applications in July.

Sarasota is eagerly anticipating the opening of Florida's second Trader Joe's, and it will have to wait until Sept. 7.

That's when the store will open, according to a Trader Joe's spokeswoman. Hiring will begin about two months before the opening and those interested should look for the Now Hiring banner, she said. Applications are also online.

The store will open at the former Rooms To Go furniture store at 4101 S. Tamiami Trail.

The spokeswoman also noted that the store has no affiliation with the "Trader Joe's is Coming to Sarasota" Facebook fan page at https://www.facebook.com/traderjoesSRQ, as the company only updates its own website. The Facebook page has provided some nice photo updates, recipes and so far some accurate information about the opening date, but is not maintained by Trader Joe's, the spokeswoman said. That page has more than 1,300 fans.
