Scooter Driver Injured in Crash
A 19-year-old Sarasota driver making a turn failed to yield for a scooter driven by a 62-year-old motorist.
A 62-year-man was critically injured Tuesday morning when the motor scooter he was driving collided with a 2000 Mitsubishi Montero, on 17th Street and Lockwood Ridge Road, near the Ace Hardware.
The Florida Highway Patrol reported that:
Ronald J. Sylvester of Sarasota was heading west on his 2011 red ZLMC Sunny MC, when the Montero, driven by 19-year-old Jonathan Arana Diego, made a turn on to 17th Street without yielding to the scooter.

The scooter collided with the front left side of the Montero and overturned, sliding to a stop.
Sylvester was airlifted to a hospital in St. Petersburg. Arana Diego, who is a Sarasota resident, did not suffer any injuries. The Florida Highway Patrol is investigating the crash.
