Voting So Easy, A Baby Could Do It

Sarasota Supervisor of Elections unveiled a campaign using a talking baby spokesman to encourage voting and finding your precinct.

Voting is so easy, a baby could do it in Sarasota County.

Well, if talking babies were 18 years old, sure, but in a moment of levity and education, the Sarasota Supervisor of Elections unveiled a public service announcement this week to tell voters how they can find their precinct at www.SarasotaVotes.com.

The Sarasota County primary is Aug. 14. The general election is Nov. 6.

The commercial, made by Sarasota's own Salt & Light Productions, is much like the E-Trade talking baby that Super Bowl fans have watched during the past few years. A cost-sharing grant from the production's parent company Center for Faith and Freedom, Inc., helped pay for the ad.

“We have created a fun and informative way to remind voters to learn where their polling locations are prior to election day. Political redistricting and the renumbering and consolidation of precincts have affected voters in Sarasota County and across the state,” Supervisor of Elections Katy Dent said in a statement. “The precinct finder feature on the SOE website is easy to use and can help a voter locate his or her precinct and polling location before heading out to the polls, ensuring a smoother and more pleasant election day experience.”

In the video, the baby yells at Frank to tell him that his polling place moved and that if Frank knew to use the precinct finder, he would know where to vote.

"Instead, he's going to be standing alone in a school parking lot, scratching his head," the baby says.

When Frank finds his polling place, hopefully he'll realize his baby is a genius with advanced speaking capabilities and a voice beyond his years.
