Today is the day when the naughty Spring Breakers film is unleashed to Sarasota.

The film was made with interior scenes at Ringling College of Art and Design residences and mostly filmed in St. Pete Beach and Tampa Bay with plenty of nude scenes, drugs guns and Disney starlets gone bad in this R-rated feature.

The plot revolves around the girls, including Vanesa Hudgens and Selena Gomez, robbing a restaurant to pay for their spring break adventure, only to get out of jail from James Franco's character Alien (Ale-leen), who uses the girls for his crime ring.

It appears that the Ringling's student's dorm was transformed into a drug dealer's paradise with guns all over the wall, with more assault weapons and money spread out over the bed.

The filmmaker, Harmony Korine is known for his work writing Kids in 1995 featuring the spread of HIV through the use of virgin teens.

Critically, Spring Breakers has been received well.

Here are snippets of national and regional reviews:

Tampa Bay Times movie critic Steve Persall calls it a 'brilliant, baffling Tampa Bay fantasy:'

"Spring Breakers is aggressively artful and unfocused, which would be a problem except it's also luridly fascinating throughout. …

It would be little more than soft-core porn except that Korine possesses hard-core talent. There are passages in this movie proving that, and nearly as many making us wonder why it emerges so erratically. Spring Breakers winds up going off the rails and over the trestle into deep, murky waters, but it's a hell of a ride."

The Boston Globe calls it 'mesmerizing:'

"There’s much more (and less) than Tarantino-style cleverness going on here; Korine delivers a teenage apocalypse that’s shocking and stupid and exhilarating and tender in equal measure. “Spring Breakers” fuses our worst nightmares and most reckless dreams of freedom until the two become indistinguishable."

NPR says it's a 'Square Trip to the Seamy Side:'

"Although parts of Spring Breakers are very funny, there's also something tsk-tsking and superior about it, as if Korine had thought a lot about young middle America's idea of midsemester fun and decided he doesn't like it one tiny bit."
