80 International Students Placed, 30 Still Need Homes

Education First EHP exchange student company has placed 80 kids in homes in the Manatee/Sarasota areas. But we still need 30 more for the Spanish, French and Chinese students coming in July and August.

Host families don't have to be millionaires to host a student. They just need to provide the student 3 meals a day, a bed and transportation to the Education First course center or bus stop for field trips.

Host families are interviewed in their home and provide references and pass a background check. Everyone is welcome to apply, families, single parents, retirees, couples. If you have a teenager at home your teen can earn 60 community service hours toward Bright Futures.

The Spanish and French group will arrive July 5 and leave July 30. This group is an immersion program. They spend 24 hours a day, seven days a week with the host family. But they enjoy one field trip a week and host families can join us on the trips. We will be going to the beach, Tervis Tumbler Store because the students get to decorate their own cups. We will also be going to Airheads in Tampa.

The Chinese group will arrive August 2 and leave August 17. This is a general group and they go to school Monday through Friday 8:30 am to 5:30 pm. This is a good program for working families. The students spend 4 hours in the morning in class learning English and American Culture. Then every afternoon we take them on a field trip to area attractions. This group will also go to Tervis and make a glass. They will also be going to local beaches and parks.

And host families can join us on the afternoon trips. If you have a teen at home they will earn 45 hours for hosting one of these teens. The students  range in age from 9 to 17 years old. They bring their own spending money and are fully medically insured. Host families read student profiles and pick the student they would enjoy hosting. Host families also earn discounts on future travel for their families.
