As the Mayor of Sarasota I’m an advocate for Civic Engagement. But my political position is not why I encourage citizens to contribute to their communities. I truly believe that a city is only as strong as its people. Sarasota is strong. We are lucky to have so many people involved in serving our community through volunteerism, internships, activism, charitable donations, entrepreneurship, the list goes on.
The one area the City of Sarasota needs to improve upon is voter turnout. City Commissioners have many responsibilities that impact our daily lives including homelessness, economic progress, housing, downtown redevelopment, and more. By participating in city elections you help decide the future of Sarasota.
Help me continue to grow Sarasota’s economy and the quality of life for all its citizens. I understand that 100% voter turnout is improbable, nonetheless it should be our goal. Every citizen has the right and privilege to vote for who they want to represent the city they live in. Encourage your family, friends, and neighbors to make their voices heard. Get out and vote, Sarasota!
