Cat Depot, in partnership with the ASPCA (American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals), will hold a mega weekend adoption event for 150 rescued cats from Caboodle Ranch animal sanctuary.
The event will be held on Saturday and Sunday, Aug. 11 and 12, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at Robarts Arena, 3000 Ringling Blvd., Sarasota. Loving cats in need of a stable environment, along with barn cats, will be available for a $10 donation.
Volunteers are critically needed to help Cat Depot Emergency Response Team (CDERT) who have deployed for three weeks to care for the cats. All cats have had veterinary checkups, are spayed/neutered, microchipped and will receive behavioral enrichment while in CDERT care.
On Feb. 27, the ASPCA assisted in the rescue of hundreds of cats from Caboodle Ranch animal sanctuary in Lee, at the request of the Madison County Sheriff’s Office and Madison County Animal Control in northern Florida.
The ASPCA managed the removal and sheltering of hundreds of cats living in overcrowded and unsanitary conditions from the non-profit cat sanctuary. In June, a judge of Florida’s Third Judicial Circuit County Court transferred ownership of the felines from Caboodle Ranch to local authorities, paving the way for animal welfare groups to move forward with an adoption event.
Cat Depot urgently needs volunteers for 21 days starting Friday, July 27 through Thursday, August 16. If you can help, please contact Corey at (941) 366-2404, or email coreyr@catdepot.org. Donations for operating costs, food, supplies and care of the cats are greatly needed and can be made at www.catdepot.org, or mailed to Cat Depot, 2542 17th Street, Sarasota Fla., 34234.
