As of today, more than a million pledges have been logged to never text and drive as a result of AT&T’s "It Can Wait" campaign.
People across the country are standing up to be counted and making the pledge to never text and drive as well as sharing their own personal stories of how texting and driving has affected their lives.
The “It Can Wait” movement focuses on educating the public – especially teens – on the dangers of texting and driving. The goal of the campaign is simple - to save lives and make texting and driving as unacceptable as drinking and driving.
Texting and driving can be fatal. But far too many of us ignore the risk.
- Texting drivers are 23 times more likely to be in an accident.
- On average, teens send five times as many text messages a day as a typical adult.
- 75 percent of teens surveyed said texting while driving is “common” among their friends.
- 77 percent of teens have seen their parents text and drive.
We are just getting started! Go to ItCanWait.com, take the pledge and become part of a movement that’s changing behavior and saving lives.
