As a small business owner, mother of a child with a pre-existing condition, and a woman deeply committed to women’s rights, my support for President Obama is deep.
I am moved when I think of the thousands of military families reunited with loved ones returning from war; the more than 5 million people back to work at new private sector jobs; the students finishing college because of increased Pell grant funding; and the millions of parents who can now provide their children with essential medical care thanks the Affordable Care Act.
Most American presidents since FDR have tried to make affordable and comprehensive health care available to all Americans. Finally, thanks to President Obama, by 2014 no American will need to worry about being one illness away from bankruptcy.
Obama’s record on the economy
When the President took office, the economy was in freefall, with 839,000 private sector jobs lost that one month alone. The President stopped the bleeding through bold measures that restored confidence in the market, and thanks to his insistence on rescuing the American auto industry, over a million workers still have good jobs there.
We have now had 31 consecutive months of job growth adding a total of 5.2 million new private sector jobs. That growth is continuing. Unemployment hit a 4-year low, the stock market is approaching its all-time high, and the federal deficit has dropped $200 billion since 2011. President Obama will continue to grow the economy from the middle out, so that middle class families will feel the improvement first. They won’t have to wait for it to trickle down from the top.
A vision for the future
President Obama has a vision for America where if you work hard and play by the rules, every American has the opportunity to succeed and achieve their own version of the American Dream.
He believes in civil rights for all, in equal pay for women, and in each person’s right to plan their own lives and control their own health care. He believes that Medicare and Social Security are benefits each of us pay for over our working lives, and that those benefits must be protected.
His plan for strengthening America’s economy includes incentives for companies to create jobs here — and not send them overseas. It includes investing in education and training so the best workers continue to be American workers. And it focuses on creating manufacturing jobs and growing exports so that the label “Made in America” is proudly displayed on more and more products distributed around the world.
The right kind of leader
The Oval Office is a place where momentous decisions are made under great pressure. President Obama’s thoughtful approach to the economy and to the new realities of world politics has restored respect for America. In crisis situations at home and abroad he has displayed steady, resolute determination and professionalism.
At the foundation is his belief that we Americans are all in this together. We give each other a hand up, and give back to this great country that nurtures us and provides each of us the opportunity for success. That is how his vision differs from those who believe “you’re on your own.”
That’s the kind of leader I want in the White House, and the kind of leader America needs.

It amazes me that in the face of obvious facts... Like skyrocketing prices at the grocery store, outrageous gasoline prices, consistent high unemployment, significant drop in middle class income, numerous scandals such as "Fast And Furious" or being out and out lied to about what happened in Libya to our murdered ambassador that anyone with any sense could support this incompetent and failed president... especially with talking points that are tired and worn out. These talking points are useless to any person who lives in the present and pays attention to the way things ARE.

Despite a few setbacks in Obama's policies, at least we know what we've got. Mitt's secret plan to jump start jobs and the economy reminds me of Nixon's Secret Plan to End the Vietnam War. We know how that turned out.
Romney has surrounded himself with GW Bush era neo-cons, who helped foment the dumbest war in U.S. history. He also owes his largest contributor, Sheldon Adelson, something for his hundred million in campaign contributions. He won't rest until the U.S. either attacks Iran, or encourages Israel to do so. Either scenario spells trouble for us, our allies and the world - not to mention what it would do to oil prices. Mitt and his henchmen blame the President for rising gas prices (based on, supply & demand - the oil companies cut the supply). We've produced more oil and gas in the Obama years than any number seen in decades. The world market actually sets the price. The USD has gained in value since Bush. Oil is traded in USD. Want lower oil prices? Sink the value of the dollar, which would really hurt our economy.
In a Romney victory, I'm concerned that women will lose their natural right to set their own reproductive agenda. With a Romney Supreme Court, women's rights will be set back to the last century and beyond.
And whether or not you believe it, Obromney care was good for Massachusetts and is good for America. Obama achieved a milestone in getting AHA passed, after having been attempted unsuccessfully by Presidents since Teddy Roosevelt.

The only incompetent and failed president i know was G W Bush whose tax cuts and unfunded wars are still driving up the deficit. I won't bother with all of your nonsense but you might look at how those tax cuts have resulted ln stifling the middle class while all the economic gains went to the likes of Romney who want even more tax cuts.

You articulated the last 4 years eloquently - and truthfully. Righting the wrongs of a decade is hard, slow work; and it doesn't help that we have Republicans in congress who are so willing to make the recovery go even slower -- they are the ones who have only one objective and is and was to make our President Obama a one term president - they are the ones who are destroying the middle class.

It truly amazes me that some people blame President Obama for the lack of jobs when IT WAS THE REPUBLICANS WHO VOTED AGAINST ALL JOBS BILLS PUT BEFORE CONGRESS ! In 2010 they campaigned on "Jobs", yet did a "bait & switch" - when elected, they began passing many, many bills to take away women's rights to their own health care - and they never worked on "jobs." They also blame Obama for the high deficiet, yet most came from Bush's & Republicans irresponsibility - funds were needed to stop the economic freefall when Bush walked away leaving us on the verge of a Depression. Would they have preferred a Great Depression? The facts are this: Republican Presidents always run up a high deficiet ; the 2 presidents who have reduced the deficiet in their presidency are Bill Clinton & President Obama........yes, Obama - he has actually reduced some of it. If Republicans had passed ANY of the Jobs Bills, the economy would be better.......instead they blame President Obama in an attempt to make him a one-term president...........AT GREAT COST TO AMERICAN CITIZENS...........They certainly have not served the needs of this country.

Hold on there Elizabeth! You are launching into "talking points" which impress only other people who follow the dogma.
I assume you are a thinking person. I assume that you are NOT an idiot. I also assume you are an American FIRST and a democrat second.
You are saying things that ignore facts. This president had a super majority for two years and got NOTHING done. Blaming Republicans for obstructionism is disingenuous and you know that.
What I ask is that for your own self. Step out of these idiotic talking points just for a moment and forget "Republican/Democrat" and do some looking at RESULTS.
No lock-step talking points. Just look at what IS.
I assume in your own quiet world that you can think. Get outside yourself and stop running around spouting what others have told you to think.
Do that for yourself.
Ask yourself if you can live with a president who handles the Libya deaths the way he has. Nothing he's said about this makes sense. He's either lying or is incompetent by looking at what happened ... The FACTS... don't match what he's said.
Think about this. People ON EITHER SIDE who act and think like you demonstrated in your response will not be the deciding factor in this election. People who look at the facts and judge them in a non partisan way will decide this election.

Sometimes progress at sea is impeded by enemy mine fields. Obama's progress has been blocked at every turn by those whose only goal is to make him a one-term President. While I understand your dissatisfaction, you are playing to the hands of those very saboteurs.

I assume you mean the democrats in the congress that he had as a super majority for two full years?
You are using talking points and people who think for themselves ignore drivel.

This kind of destruction and disregard for your fellow citizens will create karma that follows one. Profits at the price of people is money that will haunt those profiting in the short term far longer than one can possibly imagine. A global economy is a myth. People live in real places, and we are bankrupting our own real country where we really do live. This election vote for someone and something you believe in, and who believes in you as an American citizen. Wish China well, but champion yourself and your own people first. Anything else will fail you, your fellow Americans, your country, and ultimately, your world. Stand for something worth living for. Vote Libertarian for one election. Gary Johnson, Libertarian candidate for President, wants to change tax laws so that American business has an incentive to remain and return to the USA. Start living for freedom, right here in your own country. Vote Libertarian for one election. Live free.

The Alice-in-Wonderland far right labels everthing "talking points" when it comes to pointing out that the Republicans are responsible for the large deficits and debt that we have. There is no country on earth that has successfully waged two wars without taxes to fund them. Those that have tried waging war without funding those wars with additional taxation wind up exactly where we are. A mountain of debt. President Obama's attempt to raise taxes on the wealthy by an additional 3% was met with a resounding filibuster by the Republicans. Their argument was that we can't bail out the sinking ship a little at a time. Their real purpose was to see to it that they could blame Obama for the debt and deficits that they created.

Give me a break. Anyone who pays attention KNOWS that the so called wealthy already pay up to 60% of all taxes collected and even if you took all of their wealth away and gave it to the government you could run the government for about 90 days. Stop with the tax the wealthy crap. They already pay more than you do.
Just for fun, when was it that you got a job from a poor person? The so called "wealthy" that you want to tax to oblivion are small businesses that will stop hiring if taxed to death, but of course you don't want to see that.
You lock step liberals don't get that the truth is that sooner or later you DO run out of other people's money.
Looking at the reality of an administration that could pass a 2700 page health care bill that nobody knows what is in is insanity, and I might add.. INSULTING to taxpayers who hired them to read the bills that they pass so that DO know what is in them.
THAT is what is going to drive us over the fiscal cliff. But you don't want to hear that. You only want to follow dogmatic democratic ....OK I won't say "talking points"... shall we say... insanity?
Do you really support any administration whether Democratic or Republican that would cram a bill of 2700 pages through that nobody has even read? Is that your idea of how government should be run?

This is a question of "who do you trust." Romney has changed his positions so many times I have no real idea what he stands for - which to me means he stands for nothing. I certainly do not trust him as commander in chief. He agreed so many times with Pres. Obama on policy, I was waiting for him to turn and endorse Obama! The rest of his "platform" is skewed against women, the poor and people of color. Being successful at leveraged buyouts is actually the antithesis of the job of President. Haven't we had enough of the "shareholders" getting all the dividends, while the "company" and the workers get thrown under the bus?
