I'm always being asked who buys electric bikes or electric bicycles.
People assume that it is an older generation and in this case we are talking Baby Boomers and yes they are a large portion of our purchasing customers. However, that is not the whole story.
In addtion to baby boomers, we find our customers are also from Generation X, college students looking for an easy way to get to class, commuters getting to work without worrying where to clean up after a long bike ride, seniors who love to bike but whose, let's say, moving parts are not in the best working order and of course those who may have a temporary lapse in licensing permissions for some reason or other.
But the segment of the population that touches me the most, are those people who have some physical issues and use the electric bike to get back on the proverbial saddle.
One customer who had done bike marathons through the year and still sponsered them had had both his hips replaced and found that by using an electric bicycle he could still enjoy the sport while he was in the process of getting his body back in shape.
We have an agreement with a local physical rehabilitation clinic for their clients to utilize the electric bikes to help them with the healing of back injuries, hip injuries, leg injuries and of course, knee injuries. Many of those customers tell of using the electric option more in the beginning, but as they begin to strengthen themselves, find that they are pedaling more and more.
In the end, electric bikes are a load of fun. In fact Pedego Electric Bikes's motto is, "Hello Fun".
Whether you are traveling along one of the many bike trails througout the country or just taking an afternoon bike ride with the breeze on your face, you will feel like you are flying like the wind. And it does help with those pesky little things called hills.
