Halfacre Construction Company Breaks Ground on New Loveland Center Residential Facility

Halfacre Construction Company, the area's oldest, most established, locally owned and operated private commercial construction company, broke ground on the Loveland Village this week.

Upon completion in 2015, the Loveland Village, a 42-apartment complex, will offer 94 adults with developmental disabilities supportive housing and access to an array of social services that support their inclusion into the community through social activities and supported employment.

“This is a unique and much-needed project for our community,” said Jack Cox, president of Halfacre Construction Company. “We are truly honored to have been selected for the opportunity to build a new resource to meet the needs of adults with developmental disabilities in our region.”

The new residential complexes, located adjacent to the current Loveland Center campus, will also feature a clubhouse for resident activities and a student/resident services building with meeting areas, classrooms and a health and fitness facility.

The groundbreaking ceremony was held on Tuesday, June 17, 2014 at the Loveland Center campus at 157 S. Havana Road in Venice, Fla. Florida Senator Nancy C. Detert and Congressman Vern Buchanan attended the event as well as local government officials and community supporters.

"We went through a logical process to ensure that the selected contractor would meet the criteria set forth by our Village committee,” said David Hunihan, Loveland Center board member and head of the contractor search committee for Loveland Village. “We reviewed multiple quotes and presentations and were very impressed by the sophisticated building process presented by Halfacre. It was also an added benefit that Halfacre was a local company with a commitment to giving back to the community."
