Halfacre Construction Company Supports Suncoast BBQ & Bluegrass Bash

Lakewood Ranch based Halfacre Construction is pleased to be a Boss Hog sponsor, with a $2,500 donation to the 5th annual Suncoast BBQ & Bluegrass Bash on Friday, April 18 and Saturday, April 19, 2014. Proceeds from the largest BBQ and Bluegrass event in Southwest Florida event will go towards supporting and maintaining the Suncoast Foundation for Handicapped Children’s facilities in Sarasota County.

 

“We are pleased to support this fantastic event that is one of the foundation’s biggest fundraisers annually,” said Jack Cox, president of Halfacre Construction and president of Suncoast Charities for Children, the foundation’s parent organization. “We are dependent on fundraisers like this one to continue to lease our debt free buildings to non-profit organizations for no fee. It’s an integral part of their business models and we are proud and honored to help support organizations like the Special Olympics, The Florida Center, Community Haven, Children’s First, and the Loveland Center,” said Cox.

The 74,000 square feet of buildings in Sarasota County, built by The Suncoast Charities for Children, are leased to non-profit organizations rent-free. This BBQ & Bluegrass event will serve to bring nationally recognized BBQ pitmasters and bluegrass bands to Florida in a family-friendly way, while raising awareness and donations to keep the foundation thriving.

Events will include a BBQ Cook-Off Contest that will serve as a qualifier for the Food Network’s World Food Championships, Jack Daniel’s World Championships and the American Royal World Series of Barbecuing competitions with $15,000 in prizes. Visitors will also be entertained by an afternoon of great music, craft beers, family activities, a clay shoot, cornhole tournament, and a dessert and chili bake-off.
