Lee Wetherington Customer Care Team Raises Homeowner Expectations

When Esther Rose bought her home twelve years ago, it’s safe to say that she didn’t realize what she was really getting with her purchase. Recently, Esther found an interesting dilemma that challenged her expectations of the original builder, Lee Wetherington Homes. In most cases, new homebuilders offer a standard home warranty that covers just about everything for the first year and structural issues for about 10 years.

So, when the roof of her home began leaking, 12 years after she moved in, Esther searched for someone to help find the leak and repair the roof; especially since this happened during Florida’s notorious rainy season, which tends to last from January through December.

After becoming frustrated, and having several companies inspect the roof, Esther was very disheartened because it seemed that she couldn’t find anyone that could correctly asses the problem and fix it. Her daughter suggested that she contact the builder of the home to see if they would help, or have a recommendation. “I was very reluctant, because I thought surely after twelve years that they wouldn’t be interested in helping me out with a leaky roof,” stated Esther, who resides in Treymore, a subdivision in Sarasota. “I gave them a call, and lo and behold, a customer care representative was here the very next day.” That customer care person was Steve Manka. 

What caught Esther off guard was not only Steve’s flexibility with his schedule in order to fit her in, but that he also brought a roofer over after listening to her concerns on his initial visit. “After he came to check out the roof, he actually came back with a roofer the following day to find where the leak actually was. None of the other companies were as thorough.”

Steve Manka, a customer care representative at Lee Wetherington Homes, modestly accepts the praise that he received regarding this situation. “I brought someone over who I trusted and we performed a water test. This test takes two people to perform-- two people who know what they are doing. We found the leak within a few minutes, and Esther was able to schedule with the roofer after he gave her a quote for the repair,” said Steve. 

“I didn’t realize that they would be so helpful. Steve really went out of his way to get the roof fixed; he helped me find someone that would get the job done the right way,” said Esther. Steve Manka added, “I didn’t want someone to just patch the roof or have it fixed temporarily, which sometimes happens. The leak that was there is actually fixed, and the repair itself will last for a very long time.”

Steve and the roofer even followed up after another rainy week; they went back to Esther’s home to perform a second water test to make sure that everything was fixed and resolved. Esther was extremely pleased that the repair was done and it was one less thing for her to worry about.

“It is so rare to find someone who cares these days, and I really didn’t think calling the builder would do any good. I feel very fortunate to have found a company like this and to have made the decision I made 12 years ago. Obviously there is a reason that Lee Wetherington Homes is still around. They really care about their homes and the people who live inside them! I’m one happy customer,” stated a very satisfied Esther Rose.

Typically, my schedule stays busy, but in this case, a spot opened up and I was able to help Mrs. Rose with her home repair.
