Saint Stephen’s Episcopal School Chaplain elected to Board of Trustees at Sewanee

The Rev. Nathan Speck-Ewer, Chaplain of Saint Stephen's Episcopal School in Bradenton, was elected to serve a three-year term (starting in 2014 and ending in 2017) on the Board of Trustees at The University of the South in Sewanee, Tennessee. Father Nathan is a 1997 graduate of The University of the South (BA, English Language and Literature with departmental honors).  Following graduate studies at the Divinity S​chool at Yale, Speck-Ewer served parishes and schools in Connecticut, California, and Florida. Among his many responsibilities as the Chaplain of Saint Stephen’s, Father Nathan coaches the moral and character development of Saint Stephen’s students, pilots a program for instructional coaching of faculty and teaches 9th grade English.

The University of the South, commonly known as Sewanee, was founded in 1857 and is home to one of the nation's top liberal arts colleges, School of Letters, and is a seminary of the Episcopal Church.  Situated on over 13,000 acres on the Cumberland Plateau between Nashville and Chattanooga, and with an enrollment of approximately 1,700, the University remains small and dedicated to building a sense of community.
