Five Things: Sept 11, Zimmerman Overload and More....

Here are five things we thought you should know about today....

Morris Trial Location Up in the Air: Dontae Morris, the man accused of killing Tampa Police Officers Jeffrey Kocab and David Curtis in June 2010, faces trial in November. Where that trial will take place, however, is still up in the air, according toTBO.com. Circuit Judge William Fuente is expected to decide by the end of the week between Tampa and Orlando. Where do you think the trial should take place?

The Tropics are Heating Up: Not one, but two tropical storms are currently churning around in waters far away from Florida. Gabrielle has officially reformed and she is joined by Humberto. At this time, neither storm appears to be a threat to Florida. Both, however, serve as good reminders to be prepared. Hurricane season still has a long way to go!

Marking Sept. 11: The anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attacks is tomorrow and a number of observances are planned throughout Tampa Bay, including one at Veterans Memorial Park, 3602 U.S. 301 N. in Tampa. The observance gets under way at 11 a. m.,according to the park’s website. How are you marking the anniversary?

Zimmerman Overload: George Zimmerman, the man acquitted in the death of 17-year-old Trayvon Martin, is in the news once again. This time his estranged wife says George threatened her with a gun, according to the Tampa Bay Times. She called police, but later declined prosecution. Since his acquittal earlier this summer, Zimmerman has continued to make headlines. Is he still newsworthy in your opinion or is it time to let Zimmerman fade into the background?

Rain Chances Rise: Scattered storms are once again a part of the forecast for Tampa Bay today, Sept. 11. There’s about a 30 percent chance of wet weather in the afternoon and evening hours. Expect a high in the low 90s.
