Garden of the Heart Hosts Yoga for Vets Event

Garden of the Heart Yoga Center, Sarasota’s premier Hatha yoga studio, is presenting Yoga for Vets on Sunday, March 9th. Studio owner, Cheryl Chaffee and instructor Randall Buskirk will be leading the workshop. The event will take place from noon to 2:00pm at the Garden of the Heart Yoga Center located at 2888 Ringling Boulevard. This event is free to attend and donations to support the event are welcome.

“To be able to teach yoga to veterans, a population who is not typically introduced to yoga or meditation is incredible,” said Chaffee.  “Its rewarding to be able to help people find freedom in their bodies and minds. Some of these vets have sacrificed so much for our freedoms, and it is one way I have found of giving back to them and their families.”

Garden of the Heart recently launched its Seva Yoga Program. This program, coordinated by Garden of the Heart student, Harriet Roberts, aims to make a difference in the larger Sarasota community through selfless service. The Seva Yoga Program has partnered with the Sarasota Vet Community to provide the healing power of yoga and meditation to veterans and their families who have been affected by combat stress, traumatic brain injury and post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). This fundraising event supports this program, and is raising funds to purchase props for future Yoga for Vets classes and workshops.
