Realtor John Wilcher of DWELL Real Estate in Sarasota, Florida, Featured on Million Dollar Listing New York

SARASOTA, FLORIDA – John Wilcher of DWELL Real Estate in Sarasota, Florida, recently returned from New York City, where he was filming for the Bravo show, Million Dollar Listing New York. The show follows three real estate agents as they give viewers an inside look into the aggressive, high-stakes world of New York City's real estate market.

Wilcher was selected by the producers of the show from thousands of participants in an online class, after responding to an email inquiry of class members. The show was filmed Saturday, December 7, at an open house of one of the show’s hosts, Fredrik Eklund, the Number One real estate broker in New York City.

“As a real estate agent during the 2008 crash, I lost everything,” Wilcher recalls. “I was 38 years old and had a 3-month-old baby. The only thing I knew to do was to go back into the military, and I ended up serving in Germany and Afghanistan.” When Wilcher returned home in 2011, he re-entered the real estate field.

Wilcher has more than 10 years of real estate experience in the Sarasota area. His background includes serving as a Marine, Army Sergeant and police officer, in addition to being a decorated combat veteran of the Afghanistan war. He has lived in Sarasota since 2000 with his wife, Kelly, with whom he has two young children.

After telling his story in an email, he was called by the producers of the show that very afternoon.

“There are only a few loves in my life and Florida is one I hold very close to my heart,” Wilcher says. “I grew up on the water and my family always went camping, boating and spent a lot of time outdoors. I have lived all around the world (from my military days) and when I come home and see the palm trees, smell that salty Gulf breeze, and see the sunset on Siesta Key … I know this was where I want to spend the rest of my life.”
