Sarasota Sailing Squadron to Host Florida Gulf Coast Small Craft Festival April 18-20; Event Showcases Vintage and Custom Boats

The Sarasota Sailing Squadron located next to Ken Thompson Park will host the 2014 Florida Gulf Coast Small Craft Festival April 18-20. The boat-friendly event will feature a variety of vintage, restored and custom boat display. Local judges will present various awards.

The weekend event kicks off with a casual dinner Friday evening at the Squadron featuring tasty options on the grill or potluck with access to the Squadron kitchen. On Saturday, participants can enjoy the various boat display as well as amenities at the Squadron including use of the club house with refreshments and snacks, camping and limited RV options. A lasagna dinner will be available Saturday evening for only $5 per person.

Registration is free, but anyone interested in displaying their boat should contact the Squadron in advance at 941-388-2355. The Small Craft Festival supports the Florida Gulf Coast Chapter of the Traditional Small Craft Association (TSCA). Members share an interest in boatbuilding, sailing, rowing, paddling, nautical gear and maritime history. The local TSCA chapter also partnered with the Sarasota Sailing Squadron last year.
