5 Things to do in Sarasota This Weekend

Each week Sarasota Patch will give you a heads up on five events coming up this weekend.

Sarasota Patch takes a look at events around the Sarasota area that are worth checking out this weekend. 

1. Circus Sarasota

The Circus, which began in 1997, will be performing under the big top through Feb. 21.Tickets range from $10 - $45, but all tickets are half off this weekend. The circus is located at 12th St. and Tuttle Ave. Shows on Thursday, Friday and Saturday night are at 7pm. Saturday has a 2pm matinee and Sunday a 1pm matinee. 

2. Stamp Exhibition

Calling Philatelic enthusiasts, the National Stamp Exhibition will be at Friday - Sunday this weekend. You can buy, sell or trade at the event, which is from 10am - 6pm Friday and Saturday and 10am - 3pm on Sunday. 

3. Winterfest at the Park

Come out the the Phillippi Estate Park, 5500 S. Tamiami Trl, on Saturday and Sunday for Winterfest at the Park. Check out the local  arts and crafts show featuring local and national artisans. Beverage and food available. The event runs from 10am - 4pm. 

4. Palm Avenue First Friday Art Walk

Each month, local art galleries keep their doors open late for First Fridays. Many establishments will provide free snacks or a glass of wine. This month's art walk theme is "A Taste of Palm Ave". Expect live singing and dancing performances throughout the downtown area. First Fridays are from 6-9pm. 

5. Sarasota Millionaires

Sarasota's minor league football team, the Sarasota Millionaires will be playing their cross town rivals, the Bradenton Gladiators, on Saturday evening from 7 - 1opm at Booker High. Admission is $7 and children under 12 get in free.
