Daily Show Writer Headlines Planned Parenthood Dinner

Planned Parenthood of Southwest and Central Florida will host its 47th Annual Dinner Celebration at the Sarasota Municipal Auditorium, 801 N. Tamiami Tr., March 5 at 6 p.m.

The annual dinner – the organization’s largest fundraising event – celebrates Planned Parenthood’s work on behalf of sexual health, women’s reproductive rights and prevention education and outreach throughout its 15-county service area.

This year Lizz Winstead, a comedian, will be the celebrity guest speaker at the dinner catered by Michael’s On East. Winstead is producer, co-creator and former head writer of “The Daily Show.”

She is one of the top political satirists in America and Air America Radio co-founder. As a performer, Winstead brought her political wit to “The Daily Show” as correspondent, and later to the radio waves co-hosting “Unfiltered,” Air America Radio’s mid-morning show, where she brought on board Hip Hop legend Chuck D and political journalist Rachel Maddow.

There will also be a tribute to Planned Parenthood’s performance troupe The SOURCE. Barbara Zdravecky, Planned Parenthood's president/CEO will also update attendees on the latest news.

A press conference and private sponsor reception will take place before the dinner at the Art Center Sarasota. Sponsors and members of the media will mingle with special guests, members of the event committee and Planned Parenthood executives. A silent auction will trake place during the dinner.
