Drier Weekend on the Way

Forecasters say the Sarasota area is in for a drier, nicer weekend after a week of heavy rain.

Sarasota residents hoping for a chance to dry out and soak up a little sunshine are going to get it as the weekend arrives.

The National Weather Service says the Tampa Bay area is in for a much milder weekend with low chances for rain and reasonably mild temperatures.

This weekend’s weather “will let people dry out,” said meteorologist Robert Garcia.

The greatest chance for rain is Saturday, Sept. 28 but even then it’s only about 20 percent.

While high temperatures will return to the low 90s, Garcia said the overnight lows should deliver a welcome change. The forecast calls for lows in the mid-60s throughout much of the Bay. Those in coastal areas might see low 70s.
