Five Things: Attempted Drowning, Two-Hour standoff and Powerball!

Here are five things we thought you should know about today.

ATTEMPTED DROWNING

A man was arrested Friday night after several witnesses saw him trying to drown a woman at Siesta Key Beach. Three men forcibly pulled him off her in order to save her life, according to the Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office.

STANDOFF SHOOTOUT

A two-hour standoff on Saturday ended with the arrest of a man who authorities say barricaded himself inside his home and threatened to shoot them by going “out in a blaze of glory,” according to the Sarasota Sheriff’s Office.

POWERBALL FEVER

Got your Powerball tickets? The payoff is up to $400 million for Wednesday night's drawing! Granted, it's not as big as June's record $590 million prize, but you could probably still live comfortably, right? Find nearby locations selling tickets on the Florida Lottery website

HOW ABOUT THOSE RAYS?

Entering Monday's off day, the Tampa Bay Rays were 66-45 and just a game behind the hated Boston Red Sox for first place in the American League East. The Rays return to action with a road trip that opens Tuesday night at 9:40 p.m. against the Arizona Diamondbacks.

YOU MIGHT GET WET

It's looking like a wet Tuesday in Tampa Bay, with a possibility of scattered showers, thunderstorms and gusty winds, according to the National Weather Service. As always this time of year, you'll want to have your umbrella with you just in case.
