PHOTOS: Goodwill Tribute Luncheon

Community celebrated the retiring of the Rev. Don Roberts and his wife Peggy Roberts from Goodwill Manasota after more than 30 years of service.

The Roberts are ready to ride off in the sunset after celebrating their start of retirement Friday from Goodwill Manasota.

Friday was a time to pause and look back at Goodwill Manasota's history and the visionary efforts of the organization which is dedicated to improving the quality of life in this community. The organization is focused on three main objectives: Good Jobs, Good Homes and Good Neighborhoods. 

The Rev. Don Roberts, chief executive officer, and Peggy Roberts, president of housing, are retiring with more than 30 years with the organization.

The new Chief Executive Officer for GoodwillManasota is Bob Rosinsky.

Rosinsky will focus the organization on three initiatives:

  • Expanding services to accommodate returning Veterans and their families
  • Maintaining and enhancing the recycling and green efforts inGoodwill locations and a
  • Collaborative partnership with local employers to connect 1001 people in need of a job with employment opportunities. 

“The better we do in our mission integrated business, the more powerful our impact,” said Rosinsky.  “Goodwill is dedicated to helping those with barriers to employment to succeed and become self-sufficient.”   

Goodwill Manasota is poised to open its new superstore in January at North Tamiami Trail and Mecca Drive.

The new location will: 

• create 20 new jobs

• be 30,000 square feet

• 1,891 square feet to used for mission services and GoodNeighbor Services

• 16,327 square feet of retail space

• have two free electric car charging stations

• SCAT bus stop

• Energy-efficient air conditioning, lighting, air conditioning and roofing
