Sarasota Police Save Baby Duck

Officer Juan Sanchez saved a baby duck from a drainage ditch, police say.

This story is too cute for words! A Sarasota police officer saved a baby duck from almost certain death.

The duck was quacking and somehow got stuck in muck near a drainage ditch.

Around 11 a.m. Thursday, officer Juan Sanchez found the duck gasping for air near the intersection of Pompano Avenue and Ringling Boulevard.

Sanchez cleaned up the duck, taking it to the Save Our Seabirds on City Island for care and treatment.

The staff at the bird rescue facility named the duckling “Freddy,” who is said to be doing well.
