Slightly Drier Weather Headed to Sarasota
Rain chances are lower at the start of the week, but forecasters say storms are still possible.
Sarasota residents tired of torrential downpours might get the break they’re after.
The National Weather Service’s Ruskin office says the Tampa Bay area will see a drier start to the week, but that doesn’t mean rain chances have gone away completely.
“The coverage will be a little more typical and the storms may not be as long lived,” said meteorologist Mike Gittinger.
As its stands right now, rain chances for the week are in the 30 to 40 percent range most days. Scattered storms, typical of Florida summers, are possible in the afternoon and evening hours throughout the week. Expect highs in the low 90s and lows in the 70s, Gittinger said.

While the start of the week does look drier overall, Gittinger said the same may not hold true for Labor Day weekend. Rain chances heading into the weekend rise to about 50 percent, but with the long weekend still days away, he says that could change.
