Powel Crosley Concert Is Not 'Just Another Day' With Jon Secada

Secada will perform a special Valentine's Day concert at the Powel Crosley Estate as part of a Chillounge Night experience.

Original: The Powel Crosley Estate has long been a romantic place, hosting weddings and receptions with its view over Sarasota Bay. Throw in Jon Secada to sing your sweetheart a love song while you're on a couch, and she'll probably say "I do." 

The Grammy Award-winning singer known for his hit love songs including "Just Another Day" will come to Sarasota for a special Valentine's Day concert Chillounge Night called Return to Romance.

"Jon Secada on Valentine's Day—he can play anywhere," said Chillounge founder Rainer Scheer, of Anna Maria Island. But Secada loved the idea of this VIP night for couples in Sarasota overlooking the bay.

Chillounge experiences bring together comfort and entertainment with white chairs and recliners set up in streets, parks for an intimate setting, often with concerts.

At the Crosley mansion, the front area will have the Chillounge seating, food and drink stations for an upscale and chic presentations, then walk through to the rear and look over Sarasota Bay.

"On the water side, we'll bring in a stage and 980 white chairs for concert seating," he said.

Tickets are $140 or $160, and also includes a ticket for the March 9 Chillounge night on Palm Avenue in Sarasota. The admission gets you your concert seating, lounge areas, food by Milan Catering, an open bar and ladies get roses. And of course, an intimate outdoor concert with Secada. 

Skyway Transport will also provide a shuttle service to the concert from Bonefish Grill on University Parkway and from Marina Jack's on US 41 for $10 round trip and includes one glass of Prosecco.

Secada, 50, born in Cuba and graduated from Hialeah High School, is still churning out music as Sarasota audiences recall from his concert in April 2012 at the Van Wezel. He released a single "I'm Never Too Far Away" in October that's available on iTunes.

He was a member off Gloria Estefan's background singers and even wrote some of her hits including "Coming Out of the Dark" and co-wrote songs for Ricky Martin, Jennifer Lopez, Mandy Moore and sang background on two songs from Enrique Iglesias' "Escape" album.
