SCSO Featured on Premiere of COPS This Saturday

The Sarasota County Sheriff's Office will be included in the premiere of COPS when its 26th season debuts on its new home, Spike TV, this Saturday night.

A crew from COPS rode along with deputies in May and June of this year and created nearly a dozen segments that will air during different episodes of COPS, beginning September 14 at 8:00 p.m., and throughout the season.

“It was an honor to have an American documentary television series of this caliber ask to follow our deputies throughout Sarasota County,” said Sheriff Tom Knight. “I’m also glad that our citizens will get to see some of what deputies have to deal with on a daily basis in a format that is true, unscripted reality television.”

COPS is produced by Langley Productions and the program, which premiered in 1989, is one of the longest-running shows on television. Visit www.cops.com for programming information and “web extras” that will be posted to offer extended versions of some of the encounters that have been edited for television.
