'Sharknado' Coming to Big Screen in Sarasota

The cheesy, made-for-TV SyFy movie that became a social media sensation is coming to a Sarasota movie theater for a one-night-only showing on the big screen.

"Sharknado," the made-for-TV movie that took social media by storm, is coming to the big screen in Sarasota.

The SyFy channel original will be shown at Hollywood Stadium 20, 1993 Main St., at midnight Friday, Aug. 2, TBO.com reports.

The one-night-only showings are taking place at Regal Cinemas across the country following up on the success of the surprising hit, which is about — you guessed it — shark-filled tornados.

Tickets are $12.50 and can be purchased online at www.fathomevents.com/#!sharknado

The screenings will include behind-the-scenes footage and a gag reel.

SyFy has greenlit a sequel, "Sharknado 2," to be set in New York City, the Huffington Post reports.
