The Canopy Light - Oldsmar Scenic Motorcycle Ride In Florida

What do you call the scene when light comes through a canopy of trees,  Komorebi, a Japanese expression that means “sunshine filtering through foliage.”

On a recent journey through Philippe Park, you can see this wonderful sight for yourself by doing the Oldsmar Ride, I took this picture and have been looking for a single word to describe what I saw. I could not find the word to describe what I saw so I stuck this picture up on my wall until I could find the appropriate word to convey my feelings or thoughts. A few weeks passed and I was able to find a quote by Harriet Tubman that fit the sconce perfectly "There was such a glory over everything; the sun came like gold through the trees, and over de fields, and I felt like I was in heaven".

My quest continued without much luck. The answer came to me one day as a co-worker was passing by my desk and saw the picture; I heard the word "Komorebi". I asked what the word meant and was told “Sunshine filtering through foliage”. The word describes the scene, so my quest came to an end on that day. I pass along this story because this is how I treat every ride I map out and put in the Master Guide Book, the quest for the perfect road and to create the best rides.

Wikipedia factoid:Philippe Park is a Pinellas County park located in Safety Harbor, Florida. The park is named after Count Odet Philippe who is credited with introducing grapefruit to the state of Florida in 1823
