Arrest Made in Beating Death of Sarasota Restaurant Manager

The Sarasota County Sheriff's Office will announce the arrest of the man they say is responsible for the death New Dynasty Chinese Restaurant manager Taian "Andrew" Tian.

An arrest has been made in the death of a Sarasota Chinese restaurant manager who was found beaten and unconscious July 14, according to authorities.

Sarasota County Sheriff Tom Knight will hold a press conference at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday "to announce the arrest of the man responsible for the death" of New Dynasty Chinese Restaurant manager Taian “Andrew” Tian, a sheriff's media release said.  

Witnesses told deputies that the 51-year-old Tian had followed three male customers out of the restaurant, 6131 S. Tamiami Trail, around 9:30 p.m. that night after they left the restaurant without paying for their dinner.

Employees said they heard tires squeal a short time later. Tian was later found lying unconscious in a driveway near the restaurant, according to a sheriff's report. 

He was taken to Sarasota Memorial Hospital, where he underwent surgery for a severe head trauma, according to Wendy Rose, spokesperson for the sheriff's office.

Tian died from his injuries Friday, the Sarasota Herald-Tribune reports
