First Street Chop House Closes, Burns Court Cafe Opens

Although the summer may be quite in Sarasota, for new restaurants it is busy season building out and trying to prepare for the upcoming season. Restaurants close and new ones open and some move. We keep you informed of all the changes taking place in our

The summer season of change in the Sarasota restaurant scene continues. has closed the doors on its historic downtown location; also closing the doors after only a year in business is the . Both places will be missed.

Meanwhile a couple of well known places are going on hiatus. The in Gulf Gate has announced it is closing in mid-August with reference to an unannounced future opening. While on Siesta Key has moved out of their location and is currently looking for new space in which to reopen. Returning from Hiatus and now open is in Southside Village.

New restaurants now open and serving customers are Patty’s on Main, Burns Court Café at 401 South Pineapple, and Jeff’s Neighborhood Salad Company at 1414 South Tamiami Trail. Opening on august 2nd on Hillview Street, the fully renovated former location of the Table and New York/New York is Ocean Blues; offering American comfort food and live entertainment.

Under construction are The Irish Pub on Main occupying the former Stairway to Belgium space, Duval’s World Cafe occupying the former space of the Nook on Main Street, Bistro Figliulo occupying the former Deli Lane space on Siesta Drive, and Indigenous occupying the former space of The Canvas Café and Daawat.
