"Fresh" Fast Food Chain Coming to South Sarasota

A Tampa-based fast food restaurant specializing in chicken sandwiches is coming to South Sarasota!

Tired of the controversy surrounding Chik-fil-A, but can't get enough of their ready-to-order, delicious chicken sandwiches? Or, maybe you are just craving a chicken sandwich on the Sabbath?

Starting Sunday, chicken lovers will have another fast food option specializing in poultry meals. PDQ, (People Dedicated to Quality) is a "fast casual" restaurant specializing in hand-breaded chicken tenders, hand-tossed salads, sandwiches, fresh cut fries and hand spun milkshakes and malts.

The Tampa-based company is opening a new restaurant at 5164 S. Tamiami Trail this Sunday, Sept. 15, with doors opening at 10:30 a.m.

The first PDQ restaurant officially opened on October 30, 2011 across from Plant High School in Tampa, Florida.

According to their website, PDQ favorites are made with fresh ingredients and all feature sauces and dressings that are homemade.

Will the restaurant tromp the perfect chicken sandwich at Chick-fil-A? We will let you know. We just hope walking into the office with a PDQ bag won't spark a political debate like it does when we treat ourselves to our other favorite chicken sandwich.

What do you think Sarasota? Will you give it a try?
