The building will get a new roof, awnings, seats, fans and a wall to encircle the open-air space, just to keep patrons safe from the nearby noise and traffic. The kitchen also will be updated.

Hob Nob serves burgers, hot dogs, subs, salads, and daily specials featuring local fare. There also are handmade milkshakes, floats, and ice cream cones.

What do you think of Hob Nob? It gets positive reviews on Trip Advisor, where one diner wrote:

"The Hob Nob is an all time favorite restaurant of ours in North Sarasota. There's a wonderful consistency there that is unusual for a privately owned restaurant. The staff makes us feel very welcome and we are remembered from visit to visit. I worried when they got yuppified but the old faithful locals still showed up for the unlimited coffees and breakfast sandwiches to the gut filling burgers and beer or creamy luxurious milkshakes and the best onion rings anywhere. Not to mention the fresh special sandwiches that are tasty and filling."
