MetLife Blimp To Fly Over Sarasota

MetLife Sarasota is sponsoring the Ringling Bridge Run on Saturday, weather and winds permitting.

Updated 10:30 a.m.

Look up in the sky Saturday morning during the Ringling Bridge Run and you might see the MetLife blimp.

MetLife’s Sarasota agency is an event sponsor of the 10th Annual Ringling Bridge Run, which occurs Saturday. The blimp is expected, weather permitting, to fly over Sarasota on Saturday, according to MetLife Sarasota. The blimp attempted to fly to Sarasota from Tampa on Friday morning, but had to turn around and cancel the flight due to high winds.

The race is presented by the Sarasota Family YMCA, on Saturday, and is a four-mile road racing event along the Sarasota Bayfront. It will also include a one-mile fun run and free post-race family festival. More than 2,600 people are anticipated to attend the family-friendly event.  “This will be the first time that MetLife’s Sarasota agency will be supporting an event like this,” states Gary Mesko, managing director of MetLife in Sarasota. “We’re excited to participate, and also pleased to announce that the iconic MetLife blimp, Snoopy One, will be part of the Ringling Bridge Run and making appearances in the sky, weather permitting."
