SNN Local News Now On Verizon FiOS

SNN Local News can now be seen on Verizon FiOS Channel 26 in Sarasota and Manatee counties.

is now available on Verizon FiOS cable.

SNN is available on channel 26 in Sarasota and Manatee counties, the cable news network announced the partnership Friday in a news release.

“SNN’s agreement with Verizon gives the station carriage in Manatee County —including Lakewood Ranch, and allows us to serve that important community, as well as attract Manatee County advertisers,” states SNN Local News President and CEO Doug Barker.

SNN, which partners with The Herald-Tribune, started out on Comcast Cable in 1995 on channel 6, and covers Manatee, Sarasota and Charlotte counties.

“The station plans to add daily local news coverage for Manatee, and will add reporters and photojournalists to the staff to accomplish that effectively.  We will work hard to become the 24/7 local news source for Manatee viewers without skipping any beats in SNN Local News coverage for Sarasota and Charlotte,” adds Linda DesMarais, Executive Vice President/General Manager of SNN.  “We televise more than 150 hours a week devoted to local news and information.  For us, more is better.”

Due to the expansion, the station will no longer be known as SNN 6 and instead SNN Local News — The Home Team.

“We believe SNN has earned that definition in Sarasota and Charlotte over the past 17 years, and we hope to earn it in Manatee County going forward,” DesMarais said.

I am so glad that Verizon has added SNN to their lineup. We used to watch SNN all the time when we had Comcast. When we changed to Verizon we couldn't get it. It is nice to have local news and weather 24/7.
