Tijuana Flats Opens University Parkway Restaurant

Tex-Mex restaurant features a 15-pump hot sauce bar and a trademark mural.

Tex-Mex restaurant Tijuana Flats is now open with its fourth Sarasota area location at 5215 University Parkway Suite 106.

This new location features Tijuana Flatsʼ, made-to-order menu and a 15-pump hot sauce bar.

The 2,305-square-foot restaurant will accommodate indoor and patio seating for 106 guests, according to the Winter Park-based chain. And of course, there's the mural.

The mural at this location portrays a sultry space girl defending the galaxy from an alien invasion.

In addition, the restaurant incorporates energy efficient equipment.

They include:

  • Light Emitting Diode (LED) lamps that offer substantially better energy balance than traditional incandescent bulbs
  • Solar powered timers in the kitchen
  • Low flow toilets that significantly reduce water usage
  • Front of the house tile is made from 40 perce nt pre-consumer recycled materials
  • A tankless water heater

• Live music from 6 to 9 p.m., giveaways and $2 Coronas all night (21+)

Saturday, November 3 Give Back Day

• 20 percent of the day’s sales will be donated to the Alzheimer’s Association (Florida Gulf Coast Chapter)

• $2 Coronas (21+)

Sunday, November 4 Local Hero Day

• 50 percent off an entrée for all public servants (EMT, police, military, teachers, firefighters with proper I.D.)
