Community Haven's Good Deeds for June & July 2013

COMMUNITY HAVEN Recognizes Their Generous Supporters

Community Haven for Adults and Children with Disabilities received contributions from the following organizations and individuals: Sun Hydraulics Corporation for their 36-Hour Online Giving Challenge matching gift; The Fresh Market donating baked items for Annual Staff In Service Day and a monthly supply of herbs and flowering plants; Tijuana Flats for chips and salsa for Annual Staff In Service Day; Phyllis Siskel who supplied tickets for our preschoolers, teens and adult clients to see Circus Sarasota at Historic Asolo Theatre and treated the children to lunch at McDonald’s; Penny Gradert for exercise equipment and a lounge chair for our adult clients; David Callender who donated a lovely bedroom dresser and television for our new Upscale Resale Store which features gently used upscale furnishing and home décor with 100% of the proceeds benefitting Community Haven; The Palm-Aire Women’s Club; Pat Osburn; Carol D. Williams; Mr. & Mrs. Charles R. Simmons for the Selby Preschool; and individual contributions made through The Pepsico Foundation partnering with United Way from Hubert Green, Cheryl Nagle, James F. Harrod, Jeffrey A. Johnson, Graciano Sanchez, and Carlos Uscanga; a sizeable grant from BJ’s Charitable Foundation and a thoughtful gift from Gulf Coast Fire & Safety; St. Joseph’s Church for sending members of their Joy Program to host Community Haven’s “End of Season Pizza Party” for adult clients; and an anonymous pharmaceutical group who cleared off brush and overgrowth on our campus and sponsored a Team Pride Fun Day with lunch, sno-cones and a dunk tank for our adult clients; Lowe’s Store #0772 on State Road 70 in Bradenton for choosing Community Haven for their Lowe’s Heroes Community Service Project organized by Amy Rylott and Project Manager Mark Maurer who provided design, labor, landscaping materials and flowering plants to beautify the front of our Selby Administration and Learning Center and to protect our massive oak canopy from root damage; Wendy Resnick who donated a television and a Blue Ray DVD Player and James Niesen for a new name plaque for our new group home, Jacquelyn’s House; Ryan Melkonian who donated household furnishings and miscellaneous household items; Richard Peake who donated ceiling fans, a chandelier, Bombay chest with granite countertop, drapes and drapery rods, wall décor, and 9 sheets of plywood; and Elaine Cullis who donated a credenza and a hutch to our new Upscale Resale Store; generous donations from The Entre Nous Club of Bradenton; The Sarasota/Manatee County Bowling Association; The Fraternal Order of Eagles #2756; The Fraternal Order of Eagles Ladies Auxiliary Social Fund; and The Fraternal Order of Eagles Ladies Auxiliary General Fund, and the Tuesday AM Bowling Team through Caroline Atkinson; James Niesen & Family who made a “significant financial gift” for the construction of our new group home, “Jacquelyn’s House” and an anonymous individual contribution made through The Sun Trust United Way campaign; Memorials made on behalf of a loved one include a financial donation from Kenneth N. Harring in memory of Barbara Gocio; and much appreciation to parents & supporters for serving our group home clients while staff attended an annual In-Service Meeting on June 7th: Charley Gocio, Liisa Neumann, Marnie Starbuck, Ron Grunes, Joyce Martin, Denise Griffin, Ted Bogusz, Penny Gradert, Marcia Lenski and Pat Simmons.
