DAVID OTTERNESS PROMOTED TO SENIOR PROJECT MANAGER

SARASOTA, FL – Willis A. Smith Construction is proud to announce the promotion of David Otterness from his former role as Project Manager to Senior Project Manager. Dave has worked for Willis A. Smith Construction for eleven years. Previously as Project Manager, Mr. Otterness successfully led his team in the construction of the first Tibbals Learning Center located at The Ringling and subsequently through the Sarasota Opera House Renovation. David has worked on various projects for the Manatee County School District, Tidewell Hospice, Sarasota Memorial Hospital and Saint Joseph’s Hospital in Tampa. Most recently, Mr. Otterness celebrated the completion of the New College of Florida Bell Tower and the USF Sarasota-Manatee Science Labs at Mote Marine Laboratory.

In his new role as Senior Project Manager, Mr. Otterness will oversee and direct administrative and field construction operations. Dave will directly manage projects from early development through project completion. Mr. Otterness is responsible for overall cost, schedule and budget evaluation as well as all construction coordination.

David Otterness is an alumnus of the University of Florida where he received his Bachelor of Science in Building Construction from the M.E. Rinker Sr. School of Building Construction. Mr. Otterness graduated with honors and is a lifetime member of the school’s construction honor society Sigma Lambda Chi. He is a US Green Building Council LEED Accredited Professional and a State of Florida Certified General Contractor.
