Sarasota, Florida – August 27, 2013 – The Employment Management Team (EMT), a Sarasota-based Professional Employer Organization (PEO), announces its upcoming Seminar Series to educate business people on some very important aspects of running a business in these challenging times.

Since the October 1 implementation date of the new health care law is fast approaching, the first seminar of the series will deal with what to expect with the Affordable Care Act. The informative event takes place on Thursday, September 12, 2013 at The Francis, 1262 N Palm Avenue in Sarasota, and features three key panel guests. There is no charge for invited guests to attend.

This EMT Seminar Series begins with a continental breakfast from 8:00am – 8:30am. The presentation and panel discussion to follow will run until 11:30am. Panel members leading the discussion include Larry Lawman, a Partner at Bouchard Insurance; Kathy Hargreaves, CPA, CFP, CPC and a Principal at Kerkering, Barberio & Co.; and Melanie J. Hancock, Senior Counsel with Hill Ward Henderson.

Mr. Lawman has an extensive background as a Human Resources professional, and is the area’s most sought-after expert on the new health care law. As head of Kerkering, Barberio & Co. Healthcare Consultants, Ms. Hargreaves and her team provide “best practice” service solutions to healthcare industry organizations, including all physician specialties, laboratories, hospitals and ambulatory surgery centers. Ms. Hancock serves in her firm’s Executive Compensation & Employee Benefits Group and brings a wealth of consulting experience in the areas of ERISA, employee benefits and executive compensation.

Attendees of this Seminar Series will learn more about premium increases, exchanges, health plan and coverage changes, coverage requirements, delays and impact on implementation, and tax implications that accompany the Affordable Care Act. “Employers and their employees have many questions and concerns regarding the Affordable Care Act,” said Rick Ratner, CEO of EMT. “We’re pleased to sponsor this important seminar that will provide insight from local industry experts to address these concerns and help people plan for the future.”

Bouchard Insurance; Band Weintraub; SunTrust; Hill Ward Henderson; Kerkering, Barberio & Co.; and EMT are sponsors of the event and have underwritten the cost for attendees. To register for this or future Seminar Series events with EMT, contact Rick Ratner by email at rratner@emtpeo.com or call 941.306.4020.

Upcoming seminars include Employment Law Update presented by John Hament on November 19, 2013; Pensions and Payroll on January 22, 2014; and Business Law/Asset Protection on March 19, 2014.
