LOCAL YOUFIT HEALTH CLUBS PARTICIPATING IN HUNGER ACTION MONTH
SARASOTA: September 11, 2013 – Sarasota’s three Youfit Health Clubs have announced they are participating in Hunger Action Month, an initiative designed to make sure that local seniors never have to choose between food and medicine.
Sarasota’s three Youfit locations (3530 Clark Road; 6198 Lockwood Ridge Road; 3840 S. Tuttle Avenue) are serving as drop-off locations for the campaign. And the clubs are encouraging their members to contribute, as well.
This is not the company’s first foray into civic-mindedness. Youfit has been ramping up Corporate Social Responsibility initiatives in other parts of the country, as well. And its clubs are considered among the “Greenest” in the country, with environmentally-friendly power and water systems, and floors made of recycled tires or Nike sneakers (Nike “grind”).
Youfit Health Clubs is one of America’s fastest-growing fitness companies, with 58 clubs across the country, and ten more opening in the next few months. Youfit is a Florida-based company, with a non-traditional health-club model geared toward the average person, rather than the bodybuilder or “gym rat.”
“We’re thrilled with the reception we’ve received in the Sarasota area,” says Rick Berks, Founder/President of Youfit Health Clubs. “We wanted to give something back to the community. And we felt that helping seniors improve their nutrition - and increasing awareness of senior hunger among local residents – was a good way to do it. No one should ever have to choose between buying food or buying medicine.”
