Manasota SCORE Elects New Chapter Officers

Manasota SCORE unanimously elected new chapter officers who began their service on June 1. Dennis Zink was selected to serve as Chapter Chair and Bob Melberth will serve as Vice Chair.

Zink had been serving as the chapter’s Vice Chair and the Community Outreach leader. He set up an Ambassador program, an organized effort to connect SCORE mentors with other area organizations. He also facilitates a CEO roundtable for the Manatee Chamber of Commerce that he helped create, and he launched a MeetUp group, Success Strategies for Business Owners. In a podcast series he developed and hosts, Zink interviews experienced business leaders on topics of interest to business owners. The Been There, Done That! podcasts are available through iTunes, Stitcher radio, and Manasota SCORE’s website: www.manasota.score.org. Zink also writes a weekly Small Business column, Business SCORE Card, for the Herald Tribune.

“Our chapter needs to be relevant and provide the max amount of reach into the business community, affecting as many businesses as possible in a positive way,” Zink said. “I’m excited that national SCORE is interested in sharing our podcast series with SCORE chapters and mentors across the country, but most important is to make a difference with local business successes and make sure our volunteer mentors are having fun while helping.”

Melberth has been with Manasota SCORE for four years, after a 30-year career in restaurant and franchising industries. He has presented workshops on franchising for chapter members, has conducted SCORE’s free introductory entrepreneurial workshop – Startup Basics, and serves as a mentor to business owners and potential entrepreneurs. Recently he has been accompanying Zink to represent the chapter at SCORE district meetings and at a Realize Bradenton event honoring members of the military.

Malberth is taking on responsibility for the chapter’s Ambassador program and MeetUp group, and Zink will maintain Community Outreach leadership.
