Following advice should help both beginners and experienced photographers:

1. Conduct Research Beforehand

As much as possible, try to visit the location prior to the event day in order to understand the venue layout and get an idea about the lighting and how much space you will get. It’ll help you avoid unexpected surprises on the day of the event, and make your Special Event Photography a smooth sail.

DSLR camera is generally the best option for special event photography as it lets you click in the Aperture and Manual modes. Also Also pay attention to the lighting requirements. In case during your previous venue visit you’ve noted that the lights might not be sufficient and if you’ve to click using flash, carry light modifiers like the Garry Fong puffer or a bounce. Another good practice is to carry a notebook and pen so as to jot down any important instructions and names you are given before the start.

For any event, corporate or private, a nice tip is to capture fun and candid photos along with the posed ones. It’s because these types of pictures generally stand out and elicit more excitement from the party host. Of course, it’s essential in special event photography to shoot guests’ best expressions instead of those that show them with awkward faces or with closed eyes.
